ABOUT THE AUTHOR:-
Ka'Lisha Trishel is a Michigan native from a small town called Ypsilanti. She has been writing poetry since the early 90's as a hobby and a form of journaling. She has poems on www.poetry.com, and is a part of the International Society of Poets. Coats and has written poetry for obituaries and entered small poetry contest in middle and high school.
In 2007, she had an awakening as a result of a toxic relationship that landed her in the hospital with broken ribs, collapsed lungs and mulitple fractures. But the one thing her assailant couldn't break was her spirit. After putting that chapter of her life behind her and testifying against her former partner, she became a volunteer as a member of the domestic violence response team.
As a result of her training, she has been advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. As apart of her healing process, she found herself writing more and more while working the midnight shift at a nursing home. Before she knew it poems turned into prayers and prayers turned into letters of praise!
Eventually what was once a journal and a notebook, transcended into the book you are reading today. An exquisite combination of her writings which she hopes will inspire you and speak to your soul like no other.
In 2007, Kalisha found solace in speaking about her former abuser and with the help of a great friend and mentor they started Project STARTIME, Saving Those At Risk Through Inspiration, Motivation and Education. The group used to meet weekly and discuss a wide range of risk factors for women in particular. For example credit repair, starting your own business, sexual health a awareness and more.
Today Kalisha is still apart of the feminist movement and uses social media to connect with other organizations. You can follow Kalisha on twitter @projectstartime, view her blog at www.projectstartime.updatespage.com and LIKE her facebook page titled Project STARTIME.
Kalisha is a mom of 3, Kwaylin, Kyren and Morrissio and will soon be married to her finance' Robert, who's work you will also find in her collaborative work of art before you.
Her hope is that you will refer to this book when dealing with self doubt, fear, forgiveness, abuse addiction and whatever else keeps you from being your best you.
